Play Choco Banana Online

A number can belong to either color in a Choco Banana puzzle. The shape of its whole region decides where the boundary must go: dark regions form rectangles, while white regions must bend away from a rectangle. Choco Banana brings these rules to twenty original puzzles on a cacao garden table, free online with no ads, account or download.

How to play Choco Banana online

  1. Choose an unlocked puzzle and select a cell.
  2. Use Shade or White to build regions; leave uncertain cells unknown.
  3. Make every dark region rectangular and every white region nonrectangular, matching any number to its whole region size.
  4. Confirm every cell to finish, then continue to the next unlocked puzzle.

Controls

Click or tap a cell, then choose Shade, White or Clear. A dot means unknown; an ivory tile means confirmed white. Arrow keys move focus, S or 1 shades, W or 0 marks white, and Delete or Backspace clears. Enter or Space cycles the mark. C checks, H requests a hint and U undoes. Dragging away cancels the pending selection.

A tip before you start

Start with clues of one or two: a region that small is always rectangular, so it must be dark. When a numbered region reaches its target size, every cell touching its outer edge must use the other color. A white region still shaped like a rectangle needs room to grow a corner.

Two colors with opposite shape rules

Every group of dark cells connected through shared edges must fill a rectangle, including a square. Every connected white group must be nonrectangular. Diagonal contact does not join groups. Separate dark regions and separate white regions are allowed; neither color needs to form one connected area across the whole board.

Read the size of the whole region

A number counts all cells in its own connected region, including the numbered cell. It does not choose the color. Several equal clues may share one region, and a region may have no clue at all. Different numbers cannot share a region because that group cannot have two different sizes.

A dark square is allowed

There is no blanket rule against a two-by-two block. A dark two-by-two square is a valid rectangular region if its clues agree. An isolated white two-by-two square is invalid because it is rectangular. It can instead be part of a larger white region with a bend or missing corner.

Twenty original puzzles, growing plans

Work through five puzzles each on four-by-four, five-by-five, six-by-six and seven-by-seven grids. Every puzzle has an independently verified unique solution. Later stages combine more region decisions and require longer plans as the boards grow. Individual puzzles can still feel easier or harder depending on the deductions you notice.

Check your marks without losing them

Check reports conflicts with region sizes or shapes while keeping the marks editable. A partial board with no detected conflict is not a promise that every choice is correct. Clear a questionable cell or use Undo, which also works after completion. All cells must be explicitly marked dark or white before a level finishes.

Hints explain what they know

There are three successful hints per puzzle. A hint first checks whether the current marks can be completed. It explains a direct rule deduction when available, or clearly identifies a mark established by a unique completion. If the search limit is reached, it reports that the result is unknown and changes nothing. Conflicting marks must be cleared or undone; Undo does not refund used hints.

Play at your own pace

There is no timer. Restart and changing levels ask for confirmation. Unlocked levels, best scores and sound preference save locally when browser storage is available; an unfinished puzzle starts over after reloading. Help opens separately so the board can stay focused on the current puzzle. Choco Banana is a puzzle genre published by Nikoli; this collection uses original puzzles and artwork.

Frequently asked questions

Must a numbered cell be dark?

No. Its number gives the size of its containing region in either color. The shape and neighboring regions determine the color. Clues of one or two are necessarily dark because regions that small cannot be nonrectangular.

Can a region contain two numbers?

Yes, if both numbers equal the size of that same region. A group can also have no numbered cell.

Is an untouched cell already white?

No. An untouched cell has a dot and is unknown. Choose White to place an ivory tile. Every cell needs a confirmed color to complete the puzzle.

Do dark regions have to connect to each other?

No. The shape rules apply separately to each edge-connected region. Touching at a corner alone does not connect two regions.

Does a hint always reveal a move?

No. Incorrect marks or a search limit can prevent a hint. The message explains the outcome, and no successful hint is charged unless a cell is marked.

Can I play without installing an app?

Yes. Use the page with touch, mouse or keyboard. Browser storage must be available to retain level progress between visits.
