How to play Kaiser online
- Choose a full CPU match or a study. A match deals eight cards to each of four players. You and the player opposite form a partnership; West and East are the other team.
- Bid once, starting to the dealer's left. Pass or bid seven to twelve points, with a suit or no trumps. The highest bidder names trump when needed and leads the first trick.
- Follow the led suit when you can. Score one per trick, five extra for the five of hearts and minus three for the three of spades. Meet your bid to score the captured points; reach 52 to win the match.
Controls
Tap a bid, suit or card, then use Confirm or Play. Keys 1 to 8 select the first eight choices; arrow keys reach every bid. Enter or Space selects, P confirms, H hints, U undoes a study and C continues to the next deal. Dragging away or canceling a touch leaves the choice unchanged.
A tip before you start
Winning a trick is not always good. A trick containing only the three of spades is worth minus two after its one-point trick award. If your partner can take the five of hearts safely, saving a high trump for a later trick may protect the contract.
The Kaiser card game at this table
This is a four-player, clockwise partnership game with a 32-card pack. Use ace through seven in each suit, replacing the seven of hearts with the five of hearts and the seven of spades with the three of spades. Aces are high; the special five and three are lowest in their suits. Their point values do not make them high-ranking cards.
One chance to bid
Each player acts once, beginning left of dealer. Bids run from 7 to 12. A no-trump bid outranks a suit bid of the same number: 7, 7 no trumps, 8, 8 no trumps, and so on. Raise the existing bid or pass. The dealer alone may match the high bid, and must bid at least 7 if the first three players pass. A suit is chosen only after winning a suit contract.
Count the five and the three
Every completed trick gives its winning team one point. The five of hearts adds five and the three of spades subtracts three. For example, three tricks including the five but not the three are worth eight points. The whole hand contains ten net points, but one team can score twelve by taking seven tricks and the five while leaving the three in the other team's only trick.
Making a contract and playing no trumps
A successful bidding team adds all its captured points, including any amount above the bid. A failed bidding team subtracts the bid amount instead. No trumps doubles that result for the bidding team only: making eight points on a seven no-trump bid scores sixteen, while failing an eight no-trump bid loses sixteen. Defenders do not receive that multiplier.
The 47-point defender threshold
If defenders begin a hand below 47, they add their captured points normally, even when that takes them above 47. If they already have 47 or more, they cannot add positive points without winning a later bid. Negative captured points still lower their score. The bidding team counts first. Reaching 52 wins immediately; falling to minus 52 loses. Once either condition ends the match, no later score is applied.
Twenty studies with deeper decisions
Each study starts at a position reached from a legal deal and shows all four hands. Collect at least the displayed remaining team points, enough to make the contract. Your partner helps optimally and opponents choose the replies that hurt your team most. Across the ordered studies, each hand grows from two to four cards and required meaningful decision depth from one to three without decreasing. The number of positions where your choice changes the best possible result increases every level. Personal difficulty can still vary.
Full matches and honest information
In a full match, the other three hands stay hidden. Computer decisions and normal hints use the acting player's own hand and public information, including earlier plays and bids. Studies deliberately use complete information for exact analysis. Normal matches have no Undo. Study Undo restores your previous choice and all automatic replies; it does not refund either of the two available hints.
A clearly defined regional profile
This table uses a minimum bid of 7, a defender threshold of 47 and a fixed 52-point target with a minus-52 loss. Other Kaiser tables may use 6 and 45, a two-card kitty, low no-trump bids or weak-hand redeals. Those variants, the solo 40-point bid and a target that rises to 62 are not included here. Full rules remain available through Help.
Restarting and saving progress
Restart repeats the initial deal; New match creates a fresh one. Both ask before replacing the current board. Challenge unlocks, best results and sound preference save locally when storage is available. Unfinished matches restart after a reload. The game has no timer, cash stakes or remote multiplayer rooms.
Frequently asked questions
Is the five of hearts the highest card?
No. It is the lowest heart, but its capturing team receives five bonus points. The three of spades is also low and carries a three-point penalty.
Can the dealer repeat someone else's bid?
Yes. The dealer may match the current highest bid, including its suit or no-trump type. Other players must raise it. A suit bid cannot match a no-trump bid with the same number.
Must I play a trump when I cannot follow suit?
No. You may play any card when you have none of the led suit. You also do not have to overtrump an earlier card.
Do I lose my captured points when I miss a bid?
The bidding team loses the bid amount, not the captured amount. Double that loss for a no-trump contract.
Why did defenders score no positive points?
Defenders who began the hand with 47 or more cannot add positive points under this profile. They can score positively again by winning and making a bid. A negative hand still reduces their score.
Are the studies ordinary hidden-hand matches?
No. All hands are visible in a study and every opposing reply is evaluated. This makes it possible to practice a provable contract plan. Full CPU matches keep opponents' hands hidden.
