How to play Number Match online

  1. Select a number, then choose an equal digit or its partner to make ten. For example, 7 matches 7 or 3; 4 matches 4 or 6.
  2. The pair must share a clear horizontal, vertical or exact diagonal line. Empty squares are allowed between them, but another number blocks that route.
  3. You can also connect consecutive numbers in reading order, including across a row end. Every square between them in that order must be empty. Numbers never fall or slide after a match.
  4. Remove every pair to unlock the next puzzle. If a choice leaves a dead end, Undo restores the previous pair. Hint outlines a pair that begins a verified clearing route.

Controls

Click or tap two tiles. Arrow keys move focus; Enter or Space selects the focused number. Previous and Next tile cycle through all live tiles. Clear or Escape cancels a selection, H requests a hint, and U or Ctrl/Cmd+Z undoes. Dragging away from a tile cancels the tap. Help opens separately from the board.

A tip before you start

Before clearing an easy pair, look at the path it will open. A pair that uses the only partner of an isolated number can leave a dead end. Empty squares may expose a distant vertical or diagonal match, or join the last remaining number in one row to the first in the next.

Equal values or a total of ten

These are two separate matching rules. A pair of sevens is valid because its digits are equal, even though their sum is fourteen. A three and a seven are valid because their sum is ten. In both cases, the connection must also be clear.

Read the space between the numbers

Straight connections follow a row, column or exact diagonal. A reading-order connection follows the grid from left to right and then continues on the next row. It can cross a row end only when no number remains between the selected endpoints in that sequence. A diagonal does not turn corners.

Twenty fixed, solvable challenges

Every starting board has a verified route that clears all its digits. The first needs six pair removals; each following level adds two digits and one required removal, reaching twenty-five pairs. Boards expand in stages from four to eight columns. More remaining pieces create more connections to inspect; individual puzzle difficulty can still feel different from player to player.

Recover from a blocked position

A legal pair is not always a useful pair. Undo restores the exact previous board, including after the last pair wins a level. Hint first checks a known complete route and otherwise searches the current position within a limit. A proven dead end asks you to undo or restart; an exhausted search budget is reported separately. Hints never silently remove numbers.

A quiet number match game with no ads

Take time to think through this fixed puzzle collection, without a timer or life counter. It has no daily lock, account or download. Unlocked levels, best scores and sound save locally when storage is available. An unfinished board restarts on reload.

Made for the game window

Original illustrated ceramic tiles keep the digits readable against a botanical tabletop. The grid and required controls fit the game window in portrait or landscape, while Help opens in its own dialog. Use the full-screen button when your browser supports it.

Frequently asked questions

Does the game add more numbers when I get stuck?

No. These are twenty fixed puzzles, each with a verified solution. There is no Add Numbers button or endless refill. Use Undo, Hint or a confirmed restart to try another route.

Can I match numbers with gaps between them?

Yes, along a clear row, column, exact diagonal or reading-order connection. Every intermediate square on that route must be empty.

Why can two equal numbers fail to match?

Their connection may be blocked by another number, or the endpoints may not share one of the allowed paths. Matching values alone do not make a legal pair.

Do numbers slide into empty spaces?

No. Every surviving digit stays in its original square. The empty spaces are part of the puzzle.

Will using Undo take away an unlocked level?

No. Undo can restore the final pair for more experimentation, but levels you have already unlocked stay unlocked. Hint use is not refunded.

Is this the same as Memory Matching?

No. All numbers are visible here, and the challenge is choosing valid clear paths. Memory Matching asks you to remember hidden picture pairs.
