Light Up is a light up puzzle game using Akari rules. Place lanterns so every open square receives light. Light travels straight along rows and columns until a wall, and two lanterns must never shine directly at each other. Numbered walls add a second clue: exactly that many lanterns must touch their sides.
How to play Light Up online
- Read the numbers on the dark wall squares.
- Place lanterns on open squares to cast light along clear rows and columns.
- Light every open square without facing lanterns and satisfy every numbered wall.
Controls
Tap an open square to cycle empty, lantern and a no-lantern mark. Marks are optional. Previous and Next select a square; Place / mark changes it. Undo reverses a move. Check highlights facing lanterns and incomplete numbered wall clues; Hint corrects one square.
A tip before you start
A zero clue rules out lanterns on all four neighboring squares. A corridor may need only one lantern, but check where its light stops before choosing the position.
Light paths, not switch toggles
This is an Akari placement puzzle. You place lanterns and reason about blocked light; it does not use the neighboring-switch rules of Lights Out. A wall with no number blocks light but adds no lantern-count requirement.
More space to illuminate
Twenty unique-solution boards grow from five-by-five to eight-by-eight, with the number of open squares increasing at every level, from fifteen to forty. Redundant numbered clues have been removed while preserving a unique solution, and hints decrease from twenty to one.

Can a lantern shine through another lantern?
Two lanterns with a clear straight line between them conflict. Move one or use an intervening wall to separate their light paths.
Do all dark squares need a nearby lantern?
Only numbered walls specify an adjacent count. Blank walls simply stop the light.
How is progress saved?
Unlocked challenges, best scores and sound settings are saved in this browser when local storage is available. An unfinished board resets after a reload. Restart asks for confirmation and keeps your unlocked challenges.
Can I play on a phone or computer?
Use touch or a mouse, or focus the labeled action buttons with a keyboard. The board fits its game window and switches to a portrait layout on phones. Help opens in its own dialog, and full screen is available where supported.
