How to play Moon Dominoes online
- Choose Full CPU match or a study. In a match, inspect your seven tiles, select a bid or Pass, then press Confirm choice.
- If you win the auction, receive the widow, select one of your eight tiles and press Discard tile. Then choose one of nine trump calls and confirm it.
- Select a tile and press Play tile. Follow suit whenever possible. After seven tricks, review the scores and choose Next deal until someone reaches 21.
Controls
Tap or click a hand tile, bid or trump choice, then confirm with the action button. Keys 1–9 select a visible slot; arrows move focus and Enter or Space selects. P confirms, H hints, U or Ctrl+Z undoes a study decision, C continues a completed deal, and Escape clears the selection. Score & bids and Help open separate dialogs.
A tip before you start
A tile can follow either of its numbers only while it is not a trump. If fives are trump, 3–5 cannot follow a three lead. Remembering that exception helps you count the tiles that can legally answer your lead.
Three players and 22 tiles
This version keeps double blank and every double-six tile without a single blank. Remove 0–1 through 0–6. Each player receives seven tiles; one widow remains face down. It is separate from four-player partnership Moon and the count-point scoring of Texas 42.
Bid, exchange and choose trump
Each player gets one auction turn. Pass or raise the bid through 4, 5, 6, 7 and 21. The highest bidder exchanges one tile with the widow, then names trump: a number from 0 to 6, Doubles or No trump. A 21 bid ends the auction immediately and requires all seven tricks.
Follow the suit that was led
A non-trump lead uses its higher number. Follow that suit if able; otherwise any tile is legal. A double ranks highest in its number suit. Trumps belong exclusively to the trump suit. When Doubles are trump, they form a separate suit, ranked 6–6 down to 0–0. Highest trump wins, or highest led-suit tile when no trump appears.
Finish the deal before comparing totals
A bidder who succeeds gains exactly the bid; a failed bid loses that amount. Defenders each score their own tricks. Overtricks do not increase the bidder's award. After a deal takes a total to 21, the highest total wins. This app shares an equal-high win and rotates the dealer after an all-pass redeal. These conventions are stated explicitly.
Twenty original open-hand studies
All three hands are visible in studies. Win the displayed minimum number of additional tricks against every opposing reply. This study goal is separate from the original deal bid. The sequence grows from two-tile to five-tile endings, with increasing meaningful decisions and nondecreasing necessary choice depth. Every target-reaching line is accepted.
Preview a choice before committing
The selected tile has an enlarged preview. An illegal off-suit tile cannot be committed. Study Hint selects a move that preserves the target; it reports an unknown result if its search limit is reached. Two successful hints are available per study, and Undo does not refund them. Full-match advice uses only the computer's own hand and public information.
Review, restart and keep your progress
Study Undo restores your previous decision and both computer replies. Full matches keep choices committed. Restart repeats the initial deal after confirmation; New match starts fresh. Unlocked studies, best results and sound preference save locally when storage is available. An unfinished match restarts on reload. This game has no timer, account, remote multiplayer or cash stakes.
Frequently asked questions
Does shooting the moon always win the match?
A successful 21 bid adds 21 points. Starting from a negative score can still leave your total below the match target.
Can I discard the widow itself?
Yes. After receiving it, choose any one of your eight tiles to discard face down, then select trump.
Can I choose the lower end when leading?
Not in this profile. A non-trump lead uses the higher end. A following non-trump tile can match either end.
What happens when everyone passes?
Choose Next deal to redeal with the dealer rotated clockwise. Match totals stay unchanged.
Do the computer players see my tiles?
Normal opponents and normal Hint use only their own hand and public information. Studies deliberately expose all hands and verify the worst replies.
Does this include Shoot Under or a four-player mode?
No. This version uses three players, the 22-tile set and positive trick contracts. It does not combine nil, partnership or marks-scoring variants.
