How to play Farkle online

  1. Choose a full CPU match or a study. In a match, an opening die roll decides who starts. Each turn begins with six dice.
  2. Select dice that form scoring combinations, then press Keep dice. You may leave other scoring dice to reroll, but every die you select must belong to a valid combination.
  3. After keeping, bank the turn pot or roll the remaining dice. A roll with no scoring combination loses the pot. Reach 10,000 banked points to trigger one final turn for the opponent.

Controls

Tap dice to toggle selection, then Keep dice to confirm. Previous, Next die and Toggle die also select. Arrow keys move focus, Enter or Space toggles, P keeps, R rolls, B banks, U undoes and H hints. Open Scoring & log for the full chart and completed turns. Help, pause, sound and fullscreen controls are available.

A tip before you start

Do not keep an extra die just because it matches something from your previous roll. Combinations belong to one roll. In open studies, choosing a smaller scoring subset can change how many future faces you consume and lead to a better bank later.

Farkle scoring rules used in this game

A single 1 scores 100 and a single 5 scores 50. Three 1s score 300; three 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s or 6s score 200, 300, 400, 500 or 600 respectively. Four equal dice score 1,000, five equal dice score 2,000, and six equal dice score 3,000. The game awards the highest valid total for your selected dice without using any die twice. Farkle has several scoring traditions; this is the declared profile for this page, not a universal chart.

Farkle three pairs, straights and two triplets

Three distinct pairs in a single six-dice roll score 1,500. A straight containing 1 through 6 also scores 1,500. Four equal dice plus a separate pair score 1,500, while two triplets score 2,500. These are alternative uses of the dice, not bonuses stacked on the same dice. Six equal dice score 3,000; you do not also add a three-pairs award.

Why dice from separate rolls do not combine

Keeping a single 5 gives 50 points. If your next roll supplies two more 5s, those two give another 100, for 150 total. They do not turn the earlier die into a 500-point triple. You must keep at least one scoring subset after every successful roll, but you are not required to keep every scoring die.

Hot dice and the first bank

When all six dice have scored during your turn, you may roll all six again: hot dice. You may instead bank if eligible. Your first bank needs a turn pot of at least 500; after you have entered, any positive pot may be banked. A Farkle loses only the current turn pot, so points banked on earlier turns remain safe.

A complete match and its final response

The full match starts both players at zero. Once a bank brings one player's total to 10,000 or more, the other player gets exactly one final turn. The higher final total wins, and equal totals draw in this version. The computer sees current dice and public scores and follows a simple risk policy; it does not inspect future rolls. There are no money stakes or additional penalty for consecutive Farkles.

Twenty public-sequence planning studies

Studies begin on a legal new turn after you have already entered with 500 points. Their target is an additional banked turn score. Every upcoming face appears in a ribbon: read left to right and consume as many faces as dice you roll. After the ribbon, the displayed 2, 3, 4, 6, 2, 3 pattern repeats; rolls entirely inside that tail contain no scoring subset. Plan both the dice to keep and the point at which to bank. Later studies demand more decisions and deeper planning. These fixed sequences are separate from random matches and do not claim optimal random-play probabilities.

Undo and hints without changing the dice

Undo restores your action and any computer responses, including the same dice stream. Repeating an identical action produces the same following rolls. A study hint searches only the displayed sequence, and its two-use allowance is not refunded by Undo. Full-match hints use the same public-information heuristic as the computer. Restart repeats the seed or study; New match chooses another after confirmation.

Frequently asked questions

Do three 1s score 300 or 1,000?

This game awards 300. Other Farkle profiles award 1,000, so check the chart before comparing scores across games.

Can I keep a non-scoring 2 with a single 1?

No. Every selected die must be part of a scoring group in the current roll. The invalid selection leaves the dice and turn pot unchanged.

Do I have to roll hot dice?

No. If you meet the bank requirement, you can stop and bank. Returning to six dice is an option for continuing the turn.

Does a study target win the whole match?

No. It is a goal for one additional banked turn. The earlier 500-point entry is outside the target, and the displayed future sequence makes it a planning exercise.

Can I play another person online?

This version has a computer opponent and solo studies. It does not provide remote multiplayer or money stakes.

What progress is saved?

Study unlocks, best banked study scores and sound preferences save on this device when storage is available. Unfinished matches restart after a reload.
