Play Crazy Quilt Solitaire on an illustrated garden table with a hand-sewn patchwork border. Sixty-four cards form a woven layout whose short edges control every move. Garden Crazy Quilt combines the full two-deck game with twenty original endgame studies about waste order, stock draws and the cards still in the quilt. Play free online with no ads or download.
Choose a full two-deck game, a fixed practice deal or an unlocked endgame study.
Find a quilt card with an open short edge, or use the top of the waste.
Choose an accepting suit foundation, or build an available quilt card onto the same-suit waste by one rank.
Draw stock cards one at a time. When the stock is empty, one unshuffled waste redeal is available.
Move all 104 cards to the foundations. Use Undo to compare a different draw or waste plan when blocked.
Controls
Tap an available quilt card or the large waste top, tap its destination, then press Move card. With a quilt card selected, tap the waste to build there. Tap a selected source again to clear it. Previous and Next card move focus; Select card chooses it; Next target cycles eight foundations and the waste. Arrow keys navigate, Enter or Space selects, P moves, D draws or redeals, H hints, U or Ctrl+Z undoes, and Escape clears. Quilt details lists the layout and explains study alternatives.
A tip before you start
A useful card on the waste can disappear beneath the next draw. Before covering it, compare its foundation move with a same-suit quilt card that can build above or below it. Opening a short edge helps the layout, but the resulting waste order must still be playable during the remaining pass.
Read the short edges of the quilt
The top-left card is upright, and orientation alternates across each row and column. An upright card needs an opening directly above or below it. A sideways card needs one directly left or right. A board boundary counts as an opening, but a free long edge does not. Sixteen cards are available at the beginning. Removing a card leaves an empty cell that can release neighboring short edges. Green borders mark available cards and darker cards remain blocked. Drawing gaps improve readability; the aligned neighboring cells still determine the rule.
Eight suit foundations, two directions
One Ace and one King of each suit are removed from two standard decks to form the foundations. The Ace foundations build upward to King, while the King foundations build downward to Ace. Each contains thirteen cards at completion. The other ninety-six cards supply the sixty-four-card quilt and thirty-two-card stock. A removed quilt space cannot be refilled, and this version permits neither foundation transfers nor returns to the quilt.
Use the waste without burying the route
An available quilt card can build one rank higher or lower on the waste top when the suits match. This implementation follows the Solitaire Forever profile that allows King and Ace to meet on the waste. The waste must already contain a card; draw from the stock to begin it. Only its top card can move onward, and its only destination is an accepting foundation. Moving a quilt card to the waste may open another edge while covering a card you still need.
Draw when ready, recycle once
You may draw one stock card whenever stock remains, including while other moves are available. The new card covers the previous waste top. When the stock is empty, turn the waste over once without shuffling. Its oldest bottom card becomes the next draw, including any quilt cards added along the way. After that pass, no further redeal remains. Other profiles omit King–Ace wrapping or allow more recycles; Garden Crazy Quilt keeps the stated one-redeal profile throughout.
Twenty original endgames from eleven deals
The study course uses twenty positions legally reached from eleven original complete deals. They focus on waste order, stock timing, remaining quilt cards and occasional redeal choices. Remaining cards rise from eleven to thirty-three, necessary meaningful decisions from one to thirteen, and inferior continuations increase at every stage. Equivalent duplicate-card outcomes count once. These independently checked graph measurements describe planning pressure, not a predicted human solving time. All legal alternatives are accepted, including several moves that may still finish.
Read the order panel
Waste previews are marked W and run from bottom to top. Study stock previews are marked S and run from the next draw to the last. Read left to right, then continue on the next row. All stock and waste cards in a study appear together for planning. Preview cards cannot be moved directly: select the large waste top or an available quilt card. Full games keep future stock hidden and show the last thirty-three waste cards, with the complete waste order available in Quilt details.
Compare exact alternatives before confirming
Each study offers exact hints for three distinct positions. A completed search selects a card move or names a draw or redeal to confirm yourself. Quilt details explains which current alternatives preserve a complete finish and which remove every finishing path. Repeating a hint at the same position is free, including after Undo. If no finish remains, revisit an earlier choice. A search reaching its limit remains inconclusive and costs nothing. Full-game suggestions inspect visible cards only and never promise a win.
Replay and keep study progress
Undo restores one move, draw or redeal without refunding hints. Restart repeats the original position, while changing the deal, mode or study asks first. Unlocks, best completion scores and sound preference save locally. Unfinished games restart after reload; unavailable storage limits progress to the current session. Some random full deals cannot be completed. There is no account, betting or remote opponent.
Frequently asked questions
Why is a card beside an empty space still blocked?
The opening must touch a short edge. An upright card needs an opening above or below; a sideways card needs one left or right.
Can I put an Ace on a King in the waste?
Yes, when the suits match. King–Ace wrapping is part of the selected rule profile here, although other versions omit it.
Can I place a quilt card on an empty waste?
No. Draw a stock card first, then build an available quilt card one adjacent rank in the same suit.
Can a foundation card move somewhere else?
No. Once a card reaches a foundation it stays there, unless you use Undo to reverse the whole action.
Why are future stock cards visible in studies?
The course uses open endgame positions so complete alternatives can be compared. Full games keep future stock hidden.
Does a full-game suggestion guarantee a finish?
No. It uses a short visible-card heuristic. Exact complete-path explanations belong to the study challenges.
