Play Garden Streets and Alleys Online
In Streets and Alleys Solitaire, the Aces must find their way out of the columns before a foundation can begin. Garden Streets and Alleys puts all fifty-two cards in view and asks you to make room one exposed card at a time. Twenty original practices lead from short rearrangements to longer routes around buried Aces.
How to play Garden Streets and Alleys online
- Choose an unlocked practice, a shuffled full deal or the fixed repeatable deck.
- Expose the next card needed by each suit foundation.
- Move one exposed card at a time, following the column rules shown in Help.
- Use empty columns as temporary workspaces and bring every card home from Ace to King.
Controls
Tap a source pile, tap a destination and press Move. Tap the selected source again or press Clear to cancel. Arrow keys choose sources and destinations; Enter selects, P moves, H hints and U or Ctrl+Z undoes. Pile details lists every card.
A tip before you start
Locate each Ace before moving. Clearing a column may give you the workspace to uncover one, but avoid filling that space with a card that has no useful next destination.
The Aces begin in the streets
The first four columns receive seven cards each; the last four receive six. All cards are face up and all four foundations start empty. Unlike Beleaguered Castle, the Aces are not taken out before the deal. A low card can be visible underneath other cards yet still be unavailable until every card above it has moved.
Eight columns with rank-only placement
Move one exposed card onto a card exactly one rank higher, regardless of suit or color. A 5 of Spades can sit on any 6. Empty columns accept any single card. Even a neatly descending run must move one card at a time; there is no group transfer, stock, redeal or automatic refill.
Keep a route open to the next low card
Find the next card needed by each suit foundation, then consider the cards covering it. They need legal destinations of their own. A cleared column can break that dependency, while a prematurely filled column can close the route again. This version keeps foundation cards home, with Undo available to reverse the last move.
From short paths to buried Aces
The twenty original constructed practices grow from eight to forty-six remaining cards. Every start requires rearrangement, and the later ten practices include two Aces buried underneath longer columns. All starting positions have verified routes. They are purpose-built teaching examples with partly completed foundations, not claimed random-deal histories or proofs of minimum human difficulty.
Use a hint without surrendering the choice
A practice offers up to three hints. Each hint verifies a complete continuation, then selects one move for you to confirm. If the search reaches its budget, the result is unknown and no hint is charged. A suggested route is not a claim that other moves lose. Full-game hints offer legal moves only; shuffled games are not guaranteed solvable.
Play at your own pace
Play free online with no ads, download, account or timer. Undo preserves the number of hints already used. Restart and mode changes ask before replacing the active board. Unlocked practices, the active game and sound settings save on this device when browser storage is available. Pile details keeps the full card order readable when long columns are compressed.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from Beleaguered Castle?
Streets and Alleys leaves all four Aces in the initial columns and begins with empty foundations.
Do the colors have to alternate?
No. Only the one-rank descending order matters for column placement. Foundations still build upward in the same suit.
Can I move a sequence to a space?
Move it one card at a time through legal destinations. Any single card may enter an empty column.
Is there another deal when I get stuck?
There is no redeal within a game. You can Undo, confirm a restart, or choose a new shuffled game.
Are all shuffled games winnable?
No guarantee is made for shuffled full games. The twenty constructed starting practices have verified finishing routes.
Does the game save my progress?
It saves locally when browser storage is available. If storage is blocked, you can continue the session without a persistent save.
