How to play Garden Cruel online

  1. Choose a shuffled full game, a repeatable fixed deck or an unlocked practice.
  2. Build the suit foundations upward from their starting Aces to Kings.
  3. Move one exposed tableau card at a time onto the next higher card of the same suit.
  4. Use Restack to gather the remaining cards in their existing order and redeal four-card packets.
  5. Complete all four foundations. Empty columns cannot be filled by an ordinary move.

Controls

Tap an exposed column card, tap a destination and press Move. Tap Restack on the table or press its button to repack the remaining cards. Arrow keys navigate sources and destinations; Enter selects, P moves, R restacks, H hints and U or Ctrl+Z undoes. Pile details lists every column from bottom to exposed top.

A tip before you start

Moving one card can change where the next four-card packet ends. Before restacking, inspect the exposed cards and the order beneath them. Repeating Restack without making a move cannot produce a new arrangement.

Aces are home before the first move

A full Cruel Solitaire game uses one deck. The four Aces begin on the foundations. The other forty-eight cards are dealt face up into twelve columns of four cards. Each foundation builds upward in its own suit. Tableau columns build downward in the same suit, so a 5 of Diamonds fits on a 6 of Diamonds but not on a 6 of Hearts.

One card at a time, with no refillable gaps

Only an exposed top card can move between columns. Even an ordered run moves one card at a time. If a column becomes empty, no ordinary card move can fill it. It can receive cards during Restack, depending on how many cards remain and where it falls in the new packet order. In this version, cards already placed on a foundation stay there.

The exact Restack order

Read columns in their numbered order, taking each column from its exposed top to its bottom. That collected order is divided into groups of four. Each group becomes a new column, with the first collected card exposed at its top. If the final group has fewer than four cards, it stays short; any later columns are empty. Foundations are untouched. The order is preserved throughout, and there is no random shuffle.

Why one move can change the next packet

Suppose the first column has three cards and the next has four. During Restack, the three cards from the first column are grouped with the exposed card from the second. The other three cards become the next short packet. Moving a card to a foundation before restacking shifts these boundaries again. You may restack before every other legal move is exhausted, so its timing is a choice. A repeat with no intervening move is disabled because it would reproduce the same board.

Twenty original packet-planning practices

The course starts with eight cards outside partly built foundations and grows to forty-six. Every practice start has a verified route and needs more than simply sending every immediately available card to a foundation. Later recorded routes demonstrate several restacks and column transfers. Those routes are examples, not claims about the minimum number of restacks or minimum human difficulty. The positions are original constructions rather than claimed snapshots from shuffled deals.

Hints show an action without making it

Up to three practice hints verify a complete continuation, then select its next move or ask you to confirm Restack. A search limit reports an unknown result and costs no hint. Full-game hints suggest a legal action without proving a win. Random full games are not guaranteed solvable. If no legal move or changed restack remains, undo or start a new deal.

Save a session and undo a whole restack

Undo restores one move or the complete arrangement before a restack; it never refunds hints already used. Restart and mode changes ask first. The active game, unlocked practices and sound setting save locally when storage is available. If storage is blocked, play continues for the current session with a notice. Frequently asked questions

Does Restack shuffle the cards?

No. It preserves the collected top-to-bottom order of the numbered columns and changes only the four-card packet boundaries.

Why is Restack sometimes disabled?

If every packet would come back exactly as it is, another restack changes nothing. Make a legal move first or use Undo to revisit the position.

Can I put a King in an empty column?

No. Ordinary moves cannot fill an empty tableau column, even with a King. Only Restack can place cards there.

Can I move a sequence or return a foundation card?

No. This version moves one exposed tableau card at a time and keeps foundation cards in place.

Is there a limit on restacks?

There is no fixed restack count. A restack must change the arrangement, and repeated identical layouts are not treated as progress.

Are the practice starts full deals?

No. They are original teaching positions with partly completed foundations. Full game mode starts with all four Aces home and the other forty-eight cards on the tableau.
