How to play Garden Aunt Mary online

  1. Choose a progressive endgame or a standard full deal.
  2. Move whole face-up tails down in alternating colors, using Kings for empty columns.
  3. Manage the one-pass stock and send exposed cards to their suit foundations.
  4. Bring all 52 cards home to finish the position.

Controls

Tap or click a face-up card, then its destination column. Use Home for an exposed card that fits its suit foundation, and Draw to turn one stock card. Tap a column number to inspect the whole column; inspector cells can select buried face-up cards accurately. Arrow keys change column and card focus, Enter selects, 1–6 choose a destination column, W selects the waste, D draws, F sends Home, H hints and U undoes. A tap on the selected card clears it; dragging away cancels the tap.

A tip before you start

Read the first card of a moving tail and the cards it carries separately. A red 7 can move onto a black 8 even if the cards below that 7 are not in sequence. Check what the move uncovers and what the trailing cards will cover before committing.

Six equal columns with unequal information

A standard deal uses all 52 cards. Each of the six columns starts with six cards. The first is entirely face up, and each column to its right hides one more card, until the sixth column has five hidden cards and one exposed card. The other sixteen cards form the stock. The four suit foundations begin empty.

Move the whole tail, not just an ordered run

Choose any face-up card in a tableau column. It travels with every card below it, and those trailing cards do not have to alternate colors or follow descending ranks. The leading card must be one rank lower than the destination card and the opposite color. Only a King or a King-led tail can fill an empty column. Removing a tail turns over any newly exposed hidden card.

Spend the single stock pass carefully

Draw turns one stock card face up onto the waste. Only the top waste card can move to a column or foundation. When you use that card, the previous waste card becomes available again. Drawing another card covers the current waste top; it does not remove earlier cards from the game. Once the stock is empty, there is no redeal.

Bring each suit home

Foundations build from Ace to King in their own suits. Only an exposed top tableau card or the top waste card can go Home. In this version, cards stay on their foundations; Undo can reverse the original move. Consider whether a card still provides a useful landing place before sending it away.

Twenty endgames that grow in scope

The challenges are twenty different positions legally reached from two original standard deals. All 52 cards remain accounted for, including those already on foundations. They begin with five cards left to bring home and end with forty-eight. After the opening warm-ups, unordered tails and stock decisions become part of the work; later studies retain more hidden cards and more of the stock. Each has a verified clearing continuation. Remaining cards, recorded continuation length and a fixed search's workload increase through the series; the recorded routes are not claimed to use the fewest moves.

Hints show a clearing continuation

Hint outlines the next move on a verified route without playing it. Use Play hint to make that move, or follow the outline yourself. If you explore a different route, the hint search may reach its limit without an answer; that does not prove the position is lost. Hints can use hidden card information when finding a continuation. Undo restores a whole move, including any newly flipped card, stock draw and foundation change. Hint use remains counted after Undo.

Choose practice or a fresh full deal

Challenge wins unlock the next study. Full Deal begins a standard random shuffle and is not guaranteed winnable; its result does not change challenge unlocks. Restart repeats the same starting position, while New deal asks before replacing a full shuffle. Unlocked levels, best scores and sound preference save locally when storage is available. Reloading begins a fresh attempt. Pause and a separate Help dialog leave room for the game, and full-screen controls are available where the browser supports them.

Frequently asked questions

How does Aunt Mary Solitaire differ from Klondike?

This version uses six columns of six cards, a sixteen-card stock with no redeal, and movable unordered face-up tails. Ordinary Klondike uses a seven-column staircase and requires a moving group to be an ordered alternating-color run.

Can I move a red 7 with a black King below it?

Yes, if both are face up and the red 7 can land on a black 8. The whole tail moves together. The trailing King does not need to follow the 7 in sequence.

Can I turn the waste over and use it again?

No. The stock is used once. Earlier waste cards are still there and become playable when the cards above them are removed, but there is no stock recycle.

Are the twenty challenges twenty complete random deals?

No. They are twenty reachable endgames drawn from two original standard deals, arranged to introduce more work and constraints. Full Deal is a separate mode for a complete random game.

Does a missing hint mean the game is unwinnable?

No. The search has a limit. You can Undo, inspect other columns or restart. Random full deals do not come with a promise that a winning route exists.

Can I play without installing an app?

Yes. Mouse, touch and keyboard controls are included on this page. Progress stays in this browser when it permits local storage.
