Garden Crazy Eights is a crazy 8 online card game with two ways to play: a full hand against the computer and twenty open-card challenges. Match the discard's rank or current suit, use an eight to name the next suit, and get rid of your cards before your opponent. There is no timer, account or download.
Select a card that matches the discard's rank or current suit, then choose Play card. Any eight can be played, but you must choose its next suit before the move is committed.
Draw one card at a time when you cannot play, or draw voluntarily even when a card already fits. Drawing keeps your turn. You can pass only when the stock is empty and no card in your hand is playable.
Empty your hand to win the other hand's remaining points. Eights count 50, face cards and tens 10, aces 1, and other cards their rank. The stock is never replenished from the discard pile.
In Challenges, both hands and the stock order are visible. Find a winning plan against every legal computer reply to unlock the next puzzle. A full hand against the computer does not unlock challenges.
Controls
Click or tap a card to select it, then use Play card. An eight opens four suit buttons and a Cancel option. Previous card and Next card select without dragging. Left/Right and Enter provide keyboard control; D draws, P passes, H hints, Escape cancels, and Ctrl/Command+Z undoes. Undo restores your last action together with the computer actions that followed it. Pause, sound, Help, restart and full-screen controls are beside the table.
A tip before you start
Keep a wild eight until its suit choice helps your remaining hand, but remember that an eight left behind costs 50 points. In an open-card challenge, look at the opponent's suits and the first stock card before committing. Sometimes voluntarily drawing is the only way to keep a forced win; the thirteenth challenge includes that decision.
A crazy 8s card game online with a clear ruleset
A full hand uses one standard 52-card deck without jokers. You and the computer receive five cards each, and you play first. A starter eight is buried and another starter is turned. After a wild eight, the next card must be in the named suit or another eight. There are no skip, reverse or draw-two cards in this version.
An online Crazy Eights card game against a computer
The ordinary opponent uses only its own hand and public information, such as the top discard, current suit and card counts. It cannot inspect your cards or the undrawn stock. Its bounded heuristic is beatable and does not promise a winning strategy. This is a single hand, with no target-score tournament, remote rooms, stakes or real-money play.
Twenty open-card endgames
Each challenge is reached by recorded legal play from a complete 52-card deal. Cards in both hands, the stock and the discard pile still total 52. The same exact search checks every legal reply, including voluntary draws and all four eight suit choices. Its visited-state count rises from 30 to 2,947 across the levels. That is increasing search work, not a promise that every later puzzle feels harder. Hints are verified in challenges and clearly labeled as suggestions in ordinary hands.
What happens when the stock runs out
The discard pile is not shuffled back into the stock. If neither player can play, both must pass. Our stated blocked-hand rule then compares the remaining card points: the lower total wins the difference, and equal totals draw. This addition resolves a blocked hand without inventing more cards or changing the stock order.
A Crazy Eights free card game that keeps your progress
Play with no ads, download or account. Unlocked challenges, best scores and the sound setting save in this browser when storage is available. Reloading resets unfinished hands. Restart and mode changes ask for confirmation. All hand cards stay within the game canvas; select a small card to see a larger preview, or use the card-selection buttons. Help opens separately.
Frequently asked questions
Can I play this Crazy Eights card game online with friends?
This version has a computer opponent and solo open-card challenges. It does not offer online multiplayer rooms or remote friends.
May I draw even if I can already play?
Yes. Voluntary drawing is part of this ruleset. Draw takes one card and keeps your turn; you may then play or draw again while stock remains. An empty stock does not allow passing if you still have a legal card.
What if I cancel after selecting an eight?
Choosing Play card for an eight does not remove it immediately. Pick a suit to commit the move, or Cancel or Undo to leave the cards unchanged. Losing focus or opening Help also cancels an unfinished suit choice.
Does Undo give me a different stock card?
No. Undo restores the previous hand, discard, active suit and exact stock order, including all computer actions since your last action. Repeating the same draw returns the same card. Hint usage is not refunded.
Are challenge cards hidden?
No. Challenges deliberately show both hands and the remaining stock order, so their winning plans can be checked. In a normal full hand, the opponent's cards and undrawn stock stay hidden until the hand ends.
Can I play on a phone?
The canvas scales to the available screen and has a portrait layout. Tap to select cards and use the buttons to play, draw or choose a suit. Large hands use smaller cards with a separate selected-card preview; the main game does not require page scrolling.
