Controls
Use a mouse or touch to move matches between digit slots. The plus, minus and equals signs cannot move. Deselect clears a selected match. Undo restores the previous arrangement, including after the move budget is exhausted. Hint makes one verified move when the remaining budget can still finish your current arrangement.
A tip before you start
Look for digits that can lose a segment and still become another valid digit. You may need to take a match from one number and give it to a different number. Multi-digit numbers cannot begin with zero.
From short equations to larger arrangements
The twenty original challenges progress from three digits to six and from one moved match to two. The number of possible final slot placements rises at every level, from a small introductory choice to thousands of combinations. Every starting equation is checked against all correct equations with the same digit widths, fixed operator and number of matches.
All correct answers count
A puzzle can have more than one valid answer. Any mathematically correct arrangement within the move budget is accepted. You do not have to reproduce one hidden answer exactly, and intermediate digit shapes may be unfinished while you move the matches.
Recover from an unsuccessful attempt
When your moves run out and the equation is still wrong, the board stays open. Undo a move or restart the challenge. A hint does not invent extra moves: if the current branch cannot finish within the remaining budget, undo first. There is no timer.
