How to play Garden Ninety Nine online

  1. Select one of your three cards. Check the large preview to see its effect and the resulting total; a result over 99 cannot be played.
  2. For an Ace, choose +1 or +11 explicitly. Play card confirms the choice and draws your replacement before the next seat acts.
  3. In Full Match, a player who has no safe card loses one life and ends the round. Choose Next round to reshuffle for the surviving players.
  4. In an open study, force an opponent to run out of safe cards within the displayed table-turn window. Passing the study unlocks the next one.

Controls

Tap a hand card or use the arrow keys to select it; Enter or Play card commits it. A changes an Ace between +1 and +11. Visible study opponent and stock cards can be tapped for a large read-only inspection. H previews a hint, and Play hint confirms it. Undo or Ctrl+Z restores a whole human turn and the computer replies. Help and Pause block play; dragging away cancels selection. Restart and New deal ask before replacing your position.

A tip before you start

A high total makes safe cards valuable. A King can pressure the next seat, but spending it also removes a card that could save you at 99. Check the direction before using a 4, and compare both Ace values instead of automatically taking the larger one.

99 card game special cards

Ace adds either 1 or 11. A 4 reverses the direction while keeping the total unchanged. A 9 keeps the total and passes play to the next seat; it does not skip that player. A 10 subtracts ten. A King sets the total to 99, even if it is already there. These effects apply in both modes.

99 card game card values

Number cards other than 4, 9 and 10 add their printed value. Jack and Queen add ten. At a total of 95, a 3 is safe because it makes 98; a Queen would make 105 and is rejected. At 99, a 4, 9, 10 or King remains safe. This table allows negative totals after a 10.

A complete three-life match

Four seats begin with three cards and three lives, using all 52 cards without jokers. Losing a third life eliminates a seat, and later turns skip it. The match ends when only one seat has lives remaining. If you are eliminated earlier, you can continue the rounds to watch the computer result. Winning or surviving one round is not a full-match win. The computers use their own cards and public information.

The table's explicit house rules

Each new round resets the total to zero and the direction to clockwise. The previous loser leads if still in the match; otherwise the next surviving seat leads. With two players left, a reverse still passes to the other player. If the stock runs out mid-round, older discards are shuffled for drawing while the newest face-up card stays out.

Twenty open planning studies

The studies show all four hands and the actual remaining draw order. Make any opponent have no safe card before you do, within the stated number of table-turn opportunities. The no-safe-card opportunity must occur inside that window; reaching its end without a bust fails the attempt. Later studies contain more branching decisions and require longer essential plans. These public exercises use independently checked positions from legal full-deck histories; they do not promise a forced win in a hidden-information match.

Progress, hints and retries

Only completed studies unlock course levels. Hints preview a move without playing it, and later lessons have a smaller hint allowance. Undo restores the whole turn but does not refund a used study hint. Local storage keeps unlocked levels, best scores and sound, while reloading starts a fresh first study. If storage is unavailable, you can still play for the current session. An artwork-loading error offers a retry.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the trick-taking game Ninety-Nine?

No. This is the addition game with a shared total and three-card hands. The unrelated trick-taking game has different rules.

Does a 9 skip the next player?

No. Here a 9 leaves the total unchanged and passes to the next surviving seat in the current direction.

Can a full CPU match unlock study levels?

No. The course and full match have separate goals. Only a completed open study unlocks its next level.

Can I play with friends online?

This version is a local single-player game against computers. It does not have remote multiplayer.

Does restarting deal different cards?

Restart repeats the same starting position. Use New deal in Full Match, and confirm it, to change that match's initial shuffle.
