How to play Garden Snake online

  1. Press Start to move right, or choose a valid direction to begin.
  2. Steer toward the fruit while avoiding the border, stones and your own body.
  3. Collect the displayed number of fruits to unlock the next challenge.

Controls

Use the arrow keys or WASD on a keyboard, tap the four direction buttons, or swipe on the board. You cannot turn straight back into yourself. Only one turn can be queued before each movement step. Pause freezes the run; use Resume when ready. A collision ends the attempt, and Restart opens a confirmation before starting again.

A tip before you start

Plan an exit before chasing a fruit. Wide turns leave room for the growing body, while a short route into a tight pocket may leave no way back out. The old tail cell becomes safe as the tail moves away, unless that step collects fruit and grows the snake.

A larger harvest at every level

The fruit goal increases by one each challenge, from five fruits in the first level to twenty-four in the last. Movement also speeds up at every level. Stone notches gradually narrow the garden, adding turns to plan around as your snake grows.

Fruit, space and timing

The snake begins with three body cells and grows by one cell for each fruit. A new fruit appears on an empty walkable cell. The layout stays still during a run, so the challenge comes from choosing a route and making each turn in time. There is no countdown, but the snake keeps moving until you pause, win or collide.

Take a break between turns

Pause holds the current position without losing the run. Help opens separately from the board. If you hit a wall or your own body, restart the same challenge and try another route; previously unlocked challenges remain available.

Frequently asked questions

Is Garden Snake free to play online?

Yes. All twenty challenges are free with no ads and no download.

Why will the snake not make two turns immediately?

The game accepts one queued turn per movement step. Wait until the snake moves before giving the next turn. Direct reversal is blocked because it would point the head into its neck.

Is this an endless or multiplayer snake game?

This is a single-player challenge game with twenty fruit targets and a finish for each level. Other players do not share the board.

What progress does the game save?

Unlocked challenges, best scores and your sound setting are saved in this browser when local storage is available. An unfinished attempt starts fresh after a reload. Restart asks for confirmation and keeps your unlocked challenges.

Can I use a phone or computer?

The game has touch controls as well as computer controls. The board, status and necessary buttons share one game window; Help opens in a separate dialog. Full screen is available where your browser supports it.
