Osmosis Solitaire asks you to pass ranks through four suit foundations. A card can reach a lower row only after that rank appears in the row immediately above. Garden Osmosis makes those dependencies visible in a thirteen-rank matrix, with twenty progressive endgames and a full-deal mode at an illustrated wisteria card table. Choose a progressive study or a standard full deal.
Select a reserve or waste top and inspect its suit row and rank permission.
Fill foundations, draw three and recycle the complete waste when needed.
Bring all 52 cards to the four suit rows to finish.
Controls
Tap or click the top of a reserve or the waste, then a foundation row. A blocked row explains what is missing. Tap the stock or Draw 3 to turn cards; Recycle becomes available when the stock is empty. Left and Right change source focus, Up and Down change row focus, and Enter selects or places. Keys 1–4 choose rows, W selects waste, D draws or recycles, H hints, U undoes and Escape clears. Dragging away cancels a tap.
A tip before you start
Read the rank above before looking for a sequence. If the base is a King and the first row contains K♣ and 2♣, the next row may start with another King. A 2 of that new row's suit may then follow, but its 7 must wait until 7♣ reaches the first row. Rows collect their own suits in any rank order.
Four reserves and a draw-three stock
A standard full deal uses 52 cards. Four reserves receive four cards each, with only their tops visible and playable. The next card starts the first foundation and sets the base rank for all four rows. The remaining 35 cards form the stock. Removing a reserve top reveals the card beneath it; reserves cannot be built on or refilled.
Each row opens the ranks below it
The first foundation accepts any card of its own suit. Every later row starts with the original base rank in a suit that has not been assigned to another row. Once started, that row collects only its own suit, in any rank order. Each rank must already appear in the immediately preceding row before it can enter a lower one. A rank appearing two rows above is not enough. All 52 cards must reach their four foundations to finish.
Use the matrix to inspect the dependency
Each row displays thirteen cells, Ace through King. Illustrated cards show ranks already home. A green empty cell means its rank permission is open; a gray cell waits for the row above or for the row's starting base. Green does not change the suit rule or make a buried reserve or waste card playable. Select an exposed card to outline its valid destination and compare any blocked rank with the row above.
Recycle without changing the waste order
Draw turns three stock cards onto the waste, or fewer when fewer remain. Only the waste top can move to a foundation. Removing it exposes the card beneath, so playing a card can change which ranks you reach on the next pass. Once the stock is empty, Recycle turns the complete waste over without shuffling. This version allows unlimited passes, including a pass in which you placed no cards. You cannot recycle early or move cards back from foundations; Undo reverses the original action.
Twenty studies with more work and dependencies
The challenges are twenty different positions legally reached from nine original standard deals. They begin with five cards left to bring home and finish with fifty; cards already collected remain visible in the matrix. Later studies retain more covered reserve cards, more stock and waste cards, and more ranks waiting for earlier rows. Each has a verified clearing continuation. Remaining cards, recorded continuation length and a fixed search's workload increase through the series. The recorded routes are not claimed to be shortest, and these are not twenty separate complete deals.
Hints and Undo support deliberate practice
Hint previews a move on a verified clearing route without playing it. Play hint performs that one move. Hints may use information from hidden cards. After you leave the recorded route, a bounded search tries to find another continuation; reaching its limit is not proof that the game is lost. Undo restores a complete placement, three-card draw or recycle. Hint use stays counted after Undo.
Challenge progress and full deals
Challenge wins unlock the next study. Full Deal begins a standard random shuffle with no guarantee of a winning route, and full-deal results do not unlock studies. Restart repeats the exact starting position; New deal asks before replacing a full shuffle. Unlocked studies, best scores and sound preference save locally where storage is available. Reload starts a fresh first study. Pause, a separate Help dialog and browser-supported full screen are included.
Frequently asked questions
Do Osmosis Solitaire foundations build from Ace to King?
No. Their starting rank comes from the first foundation card. Each foundation takes its own suit in any rank order, subject to the rank permission from the row immediately above.
Why is a card blocked even though its rank is in the first row?
For row three, that rank must also be in row two; for row four, it must be in row three. Empty rows must first receive the original base rank, and every row keeps one distinct suit.
Does this version draw one card or three?
It draws three, with a shorter draw at the end if needed. Some other Osmosis versions use different stock rules. Here the complete waste can be recycled whenever the stock is empty, with no pass limit.
Can I move reserve cards onto each other?
No. Only a reserve's top card can move, and it must go directly to an eligible foundation. Empty reserves stay empty.
Are all random full deals guaranteed to clear?
No. The twenty challenge positions have verified continuations, but random full deals have no such promise. A missing hint can also mean the search reached its limit.
Can I play without installing an app?
Yes. The game runs on this page with mouse, touch and keyboard controls. Progress stays in this browser when local storage is available.
