Garden Aces Up is an Aces Up solitaire card game with four columns and one clear aim: finish with only the four aces. Compare the uncovered cards by suit, discard the lower ones, and use empty columns to reach useful cards underneath. Aces rank above kings.
How to play Garden Aces Up online
- Look for exposed top cards of the same suit. Select a lower card and press Discard.
- Move an uncovered top card into an empty column when it helps reveal the card underneath.
- Use Deal 4 to add one stock card to each column. Clear all forty-eight non-ace cards and leave one ace in each column.
Controls
Tap or click an uncovered top card to select it. Discard removes the selected card only when another column shows a higher card of the same suit. To move a card, select it and then an empty column, or drag it there. The four Column buttons offer the same selection and empty-column actions. Tap the stock or use Deal 4 to deal one card to every column. Undo restores the entire previous action, including all four cards of a deal. Play hint performs one verified action when a continuation is available.
A tip before you start
An empty column can release a useful card hidden below an ace or another high card. Before dealing again, check whether a discard or an empty-column move exposes a helpful suit. Dealing early is allowed, but covering a useful top card can make the position harder to recover.
An Aces Up card game with the full deck
Every deal uses all fifty-two standard cards, with thirteen ranks in each suit. Four cards start the columns and the remaining forty-eight form the stock. Deal 4 adds one card to each column, including empty columns. There is one pass through the stock and no redeal.
Compare suits before ranks
A higher heart can remove a lower heart, but it cannot remove a club. Aces are highest, followed by king, queen, jack, ten and the remaining numbers down to two. Only uncovered top cards may be discarded or moved. Cards already beneath another card must wait until they are exposed.
Twenty curated, solvable deals
These twenty original starting orders all have verified routes to a four-ace finish. The complete deck and rules stay the same; later deals increase the recorded search work under one fixed checker. That is a measure of the decision tree, not a promise that each person will find every later deal harder. This mode uses selected challenges rather than unfiltered random deals.
Undo a blocked position
An unfortunate choice can spoil a solvable start. If the stock is empty and no legal action remains, the game explains that the attempt is blocked and leaves Undo and Restart available. Hints use a known winning continuation or a limited search. A proven dead end asks you to undo; a search limit is reported as a limit, not a false claim that the position is impossible.
Frequently asked questions
Can I discard an ace?
No. Nothing ranks higher than an ace in its suit, so an ace cannot meet the discard rule. The goal is to keep exactly the four aces, one in each column, after the stock is exhausted.
Can I deal while another move is available?
Yes. This version allows an early Deal 4. It places one card on every column and can cover cards you might have wanted to use first.
Can any top card fill an empty column?
Yes. The empty-column move is available to any uncovered top card, not just an ace. Cards cannot be moved onto a nonempty column.
Is Garden Aces Up free online?
Yes. All twenty deals are free with no ads and no download. There is no timer.
What progress is saved?
Unlocked deals, best scores and your sound setting are saved in this browser when local storage is available. An unfinished deal starts fresh after a reload. Restart asks for confirmation and keeps the unlocked deals.
Can I play on a phone or computer?
Use touch, a mouse or the column and action buttons. The four columns, stock and necessary controls stay inside one game window. Help opens separately, and full screen is available where your browser supports it.
