Royal Parade Solitaire arranges two decks into three rows of eight foundations. Build the first row from 2 to J, the second from 3 to Q and the third from 4 to K, moving up three ranks in the same suit. Garden Royal Parade offers twenty original reachable studies, an illustrated hydrangea table and complete 104-card deals. Play free online with no ads, account or download.
Find the base cards for the three rows: 2, 3 and 4. Only a correctly started foundation accepts a build.
Move exposed cards onto foundations of the same suit exactly three ranks below them.
Discard exposed aces. Exchange two single misplaced base cards when each belongs in the other's row.
Deal one stock card to every reserve when needed. Complete all twenty-four four-card foundations and discard all eight aces to win.
Controls
Select a top card, then select its foundation destination. Use Discard ace for an exposed ace, Deal 8 for the next stock packet, and Explain for the focused pile. Arrow keys move pile focus; Enter selects, D deals, A discards, E explains, H hints, U undoes and Escape clears. The larger focus card helps identify small pile tops.
A tip before you start
Expose a misplaced 2, 3 or 4 before covering reserve cards with the next stock packet. A base exchange is legal only when both cards finish in the correct rows.
Three rows, three different sequences
The top row builds 2–5–8–J, the middle row 3–6–9–Q and the bottom row 4–7–10–K. Each pile stays in one suit. An empty top-row position therefore accepts any exposed 2, but not a 5: the sequence must start at its base. A lone card in the wrong row cannot receive a build. Its outline marks that problem until you move it away or correct it.
Exchange bases only when both improve
Suppose a 3 occupies a single-card top-row pile and a 2 occupies a single-card middle-row pile. Exchanging them puts each in its proper row, so the exchange is allowed. Swapping a 2 with an unrelated king does not qualify. Both piles must contain exactly one card, both cards must currently be misplaced, and both must become correct row bases. Their suits need not match for this exchange.
Eight reserves and a one-pass stock
A full deal starts with one face-up card in each of the twenty-four foundations and eight reserves. The other seventy-two cards form the stock. Only exposed top cards are available. A reserve accepts no manual placement and does not refill automatically when emptied. Deal adds one card to each reserve, including an empty reserve, and can bury useful cards. There is no redeal. Foundation gaps may remain open when you deal.
Twenty studies with increasing unfinished work
Each study is reached by legal play from a different original complete deal. The sequence begins with ten unfinished cards and ends with sixty-seven. The combined burden of cards in stock and cards covered in reserves also rises at every level, from three to fifty. Each starting position has a verified winning continuation. These measures increase the amount of work and reserve planning; they are not a measured rating of human difficulty.
Hints explain a continuation without promising the shortest route
Hint outlines the next move on a verified route and leaves the cards in place. Play hint performs that action. Hints may inspect the hidden stock order. If a bounded search cannot find a continuation, the game reports that the answer is unknown and charges no hint; it does not label the position impossible. A verified route need not use the fewest moves. Explain describes a selected card's sequence and whether its pile has a valid base.
Choose a study or play a complete deal
Full Deal starts a complete 104-card game. Such shuffled games are not promised winnable. Restart asks before returning to the same start; New deal asks before replacing a full game with a different shuffle. Undo restores an entire card move, exchange, ace discard or eight-card stock deal, including after a win. Used hints stay used. Only study wins unlock later studies.
The rule profile used here
This version uses all 104 cards, discards aces during play and never automatically fills an empty reserve. Other Royal Parade implementations remove the aces before dealing, prearrange base cards or refill empty reserves. Those are different profiles. Virginia Reel also imposes different gap-filling requirements. The rules on this page describe the game in this frame; no features from those other versions are assumed.
Keep controls and progress close
The board shows all thirty-two pile tops, stock, pile counts and an enlarged focus card. Focus buttons allow selection without precise taps on small cards. Dragging away cancels a tap. Help opens separately and Pause blocks play. The device saves unlocked studies, best scores and sound where local storage is available; it does not save an active deal. Reload starts a fresh first study with those records retained. Without storage, records last for the current session.
Frequently asked questions
Why can I not place a 5 on this 2?
The 2 must be the base of a top-row foundation and the 5 must have the same suit. A 2 waiting in another row is misplaced and cannot receive cards.
Can I build a reserve pile?
No. Reserves only receive the next stock packet. You may move their exposed tops to legal foundations or discard exposed aces.
Do empty reserves refill immediately?
No. This profile leaves them empty until the next Deal 8 action. Each deal puts exactly one card on every reserve.
What happens to aces?
Select an exposed ace and use Discard ace. Aces belong to none of the three foundation sequences. All eight must be discarded to win.
Does a hint guarantee that a new full deal is winnable?
No. A displayed hint belongs to a verified continuation from the current position. Full Deal shuffles have no general winnability promise, and a search cutoff means unknown.
